The ruins of Castelvecchio - Hauenstein
The fortress at the foot of Punta Santner was built by the Hauenstein lords in the 12th century and was later enlarged in the 15th and 16th centuries. The renowned poet and minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein was one of the first owners. It can be reached by following the path no. 8.

Ruins of the Salego - Salegg
They are located near the remains of the Castelvecchio in the homonymous forest. Very little remains of the original fortress...  path no. 3b .

Ruins of St. Oswald Rovereto
This remains of a Castle dates back to the 12th century and belonged to the Aichach lords whose dynasty ended due to bloody battles against the lords of Castelrotto. The castle was then owned by the latter until 1741.

The nearby farmstead called “Pflegerhof” (porter’s lodge) is worth a visit: aromatic and officinal herbs are cultivated and sold here.  Path no. 7 

Castle Forte
This castle is amazingly positioned just above Ponte Gardena. Inside it is still partly adorned with original furnishings. A permanent exhibition describes the life of Oswald von Wolkenstein. It can be reached by foot along path no. 1 passing through Tisana and Tagusa (hamlets of Castelrotto).Reach Tagusa by car (Messnerhof), then take the path no. 1.  Guided tours -


Presule Castle - Schloss Prösels
Built between 1490 and 1520, it reflects the typical architecture of the fortifications during the era of Emperor Maximilian I. In the internal courtyard there is a separate chapel dating back to the late Gothic period. The rooms are decorated with remarkable ornaments and frescoes. Guided tours: (tel. 0471/601062)
